Rachel vogeleisen fine photography art

Artist and fine photographer Rachel Vogeleisen dedicates her art to celebrating the courageous and generous women who have made their mark on the world—those who have taken a stand, achieved their dreams, and inspired others. The work of Artemisia Gentileschi, Frida Kahlo, Sally Mann and many others has been a source of inspiration for her own art and photography.

Here we chat with Rachel some more…

Can you tell us your backstory and how you got into the art world?

I’ve always had a deep passion for creative outlets, and I’ve been drawn to the power of photography from an early age. Initially, I started experimenting with different mediums, but I found my true calling in photography. Over the years, I refined my style and technique, focusing on the themes of identity, womanhood, and finding your voice.

How would you describe your signature style and technique?

My signature style can be described as a blend of painting and fine art photography. I play with light and shadows to create depth and emotion in my images. My focus is often on intimate, personal stories, exploring the themes of womanhood, identity, and resilience. Each piece is meant to evoke a sense of connection and reflection in the viewer.

Can you tell us about your latest work? Where did you find inspiration and what is the story behind it?

My latest project is called New Beginnings – The Joyful Journey. This art collection is an invitation to take a leap of faith and embrace life’s resilience. Through unique artwork and powerful messages, this collection of images of New Beginnings encourages the viewer to reconnect with their sense of freedom and independence, be liberated from the constraints of everyday life and being allowed to start anew. Each image is a celebration of a new beginning in a European city, so far, Florence, Venice, London, Paris, Amsterdam and Strasbourg. More images are in the making.

What is the best advice you received as an artist?

The best advice I received was to stay authentic to my vision. It’s easy to be swayed by trends or external pressures, but staying true to my personal voice has been the key to creating work that is meaningful and impactful. This advice continues to guide me as I explore new themes and techniques in my art.
