Bringing sun-washed tones into your interiors, British textile studio Yarn Collective spotlights the use of yellow across three textiles from its collaboration with Sister by Studio Ashby. A bold, cheery hue coming into its own during the summer months, yellow offers a natural counterpoint to darker winter tones, making interiors feel fresh, welcoming and full of life.
Inspired by drifting cloud formations, Odessa is a linen cotton blend that diffuses its vibrant citrine tone across the surface of its painterly pattern. The result is a colour that feels softened and gently layered, lifting a scheme while still feeling considered and introducing a sense of light and optimism. Hand-printed and meticulously woven, the fabric reveals subtle variations that enhance its crafted character, working fluidly across upholstery and drapery.

Balanced with complementary plains from the Sister collection – Sacha and Atlas – these softer tonal layers ground Odessa’s pattern, for a cohesive, sun-drenched interior. A 100% linen, Sacha has a subtle, refined texture and airy feel, with its understated elegance bringing a lighter, more relaxed quality to a scheme. Atlas, a soft and richly tactile linen velvet, is defined by its gently crushed surface, with natural variations that introduce depth and warmth. Together, they allow the buttery summery tone to shift across surfaces while maintaining a sense of balance and cohesion, creating a timeless foundation for sophisticated, serene interiors.
“Yellow can be incredibly effective when used across multiple surfaces,” says James Gomez, co-founder and creative director of Yarn Collective. “For a contemporary look, colour-drenched walls, drapes and fabrics in tonal variations allow the colour to feel immersive. From muted lemon through to a more saturated citrine, yellow is a joyful shade that brings warmth to every surface it touches. A statement colour, yet surprisingly versatile, it works effortlessly with soft neutrals and more vibrant tones.”
