Luxury shoe brand Aimée Ann Lou reveals its SS23 sustainable collection inspired by the spring colours. From loafers to satin slippers, the collection is setting standards in sustainability with the special materials and unique processes they use. The collection is handcrafted by Italian artisans in Tuscany, who not only focus on reducing CO2 emissions during the manufacturing process, but also upcycle otherwise wasted products to minimise the impact on the environment.

Sharing environmental and cultural values with their Italian partners is very important to Aimée Ann Lou brand. The business was founded by Aimée Ann Louise Homer, who started her career in investment banking working between London and Dubai. She always held a passion for fashion and creativity, an appreciation for thoughtful design, and a desire to always look well-curated.

Aimée was determined that a corporate career would not spell the end of elegance. She liked to light up board meetings with her wardrobe that struck a balance between formality and femininity. While fashion was easy to charter with an increasing number of collections dedicated to women like herself that wanted to work hard and look good while doing so, she found footwear less easy to navigate. Offerings were either impractical for days running around capitals, with chic designs towering upon high heels or flat unimpressive styles. She refused the notion that a woman must wear high heels to be empowered for work or a night out.

Aimée’s frustrations resulted in a journey in shoe design when she travelled to Milan to immerse herself in artisanal shoemaking techniques. She was committed to crafting designs with comfort, sustainability and quality at their core that exude contemporary elegance and transcend social settings.

Aimée curated a team of highly-skilled individuals that share her vision with artisans contributing decades of knowledge in Italian craftsmanship. Aimée’s experience in bioengineering, which she studied at UCL, has informed her thoughtful and responsible approach to design. Through extensive research and the deconstruction of premium footwear, the team has been able to produce creations of superior quality using materials that are both locally sourced and consciously produced using ethical and environmentally sound manufacturing techniques.
