EXOTIC FRUITS/Guava & MALAYA PLAIN/Denim

I have long wanted to create a wallpaper collection to add to the fabric range we have established over the last seven years”, explains Sharon Crowson, managing director of The Design Archives. Taking some of our most popular prints, and translating to paper with new colours and different scales has been a wonderfully creative endeavour, and the colour palette provides a truly diverse choice, from rich plum tones to light aqua colours.”

The collection which is named after the Sussex house once owned by Sir Harold Macmillan, and close to the grounds of Sharon’s family home, offers a myriad of classic styles – from floral designs seen in the classic Tree of Life and Grand Floral, to the intricate Arts & Crafts influences of Grand Tiffany, through to the simple beauty of Malaya, a simple symmetrical motif

The Shala fabric collection from The Design Archives also provides the template for the elegant Toile du Jouy Albertina, and the flowing floral and botanical flourishes of Exotic Fruits. Add to this, the versatile Malaya Plain which is a single colour, blocked textured paper that comes in 14 colourways, it offers a textured alternative to paint, providing a seamless match to the colourways of the patterned papers.

The Design Archives is the brainchild of Sharon Crowson whose family business, Crowson Fabrics, established in 1978, became one of the worlds leading producers, designers and suppliers of home furnishings. Sharon took on the huge archive of over 5000 designs amassed by her father, the distinguished textile printer and collector Derek Crowson. It is a fitting legacy to his achievements, and the archive remains her guiding inspiration in bringing to life its most beautiful designs onto both fabric and wallpaper.
