Suffolk-based interior design studio Natasha Burton Interiors completed a kitchen renovation to create a warm and sociable space for family gatherings and daily activities.
There were a few significant changes that helped this create such an impact with this room. The addition of a small utility room at the back of the house, which is now accessed by opening up a small pantry cupboard, allowed for items such as washing machines, shoes/coats, larger fridge freezer to be put here and created more space in the main kitchen.

A previously blocked up fireplace was reopened and enlarged to house the cooker, which meant the dream of adding in a good sized seating area was possible.
Banquette seating with storage in a fun fabric is a cosy feature of the room and means this kitchen is now a social hub of the home, where the family gather for meals, playing board games or doing homework.

Before the kitchen wasn’t practical and overly user friendly, the lack of worktop space made it awkward prepping meals. To combat this, the sink was relocated to give a full run of worktop space meaning meal prepping is now so much easier.
Having no top cabinets has kept the space feeling more open, before it felt claustrophobic; the shelving gives a more personal and lived in feel to the room.

The colour scheme is another dramatic change, with this being a country cottage with low ceilings and exposed beams, the previous cream and white colour scheme actually made the room feel very dull and bland. Using a light pink on the walls felt instantly warmer and definitely more welcoming, offset with rusty red cabinets and terracotta floor tiles – it’s like a snippet of Mediterranean in the depths of Suffolk!

Pulling the whole scheme together is the worktop from Foresso. This beautifully unique worktop is made from leftover wood chippings positioned over plywood and then coated with resin is sustainable and made here in the UK.
