Jessica Pemberton is a multimedia papercut artist whose work ismeticulously hand-cut, using either vintage sourced papers or her own papers handcrafted with washes of gouache. The papers are layered together to create form, part gluing petals and leaves to evoke a realistic element to the work.
Here we share a little bit more about Jessica…
Tell us more about your journey into the art world.
I was born into it having a textile designer mother and graphic designer father. Living in a house full of vintage textiles, my everyday was full of pattern and print which inspires my work today.
How would you describe your signature style and technique?
Pattern print and colour to produce pieces that are cheerful and vibrate. My florals are hand cut and part glued to give a 3D element to them.
Can you tell us about your latest work? Where did you find inspiration and what is the story behind it?
My current work is a subtle nod to wind in the willow’s using spring and riverbank flowers.
Are there any exhibitions or events you are planning in near future?
I am taking part in the next Curator&Maker show at Myriad Antiques, 131 Portland d Road, London W11 4LW 15-22 May based on ‘Wind in the Willows’ open 11-6pm every day except Sunday and late night 6-8pm on 15 May.
