Founded in 2016 by Stacey Lillicoco and her partner Simon Green, Lillicoco is an online shopping destination for people to come and find extraordinary antique jewellery, making these wonderful treasures more accessible.
Having studied Fashion and Textile Design at University, Stacey discovered a love of all things vintage and antique, and particularly loved the unique designs and rich history behind period jewellery.
Can you tell us the backstory of the brand? How and why it was started?
I have always had a passion for all things vintage and antique having studied Fashion and Textile Design at University, I particularly loved the unique designs and rich history behind period jewellery. Lillicoco started in 2016 after a few bubbles on New Years Eve when my partner and I were discussing a way to spend more time with each other, being away a lot with our old jobs.
I’ve been working in the jewellery industry for over 10 years and have been gradually building up my own personal collection of beautiful antique jewels, whilst working on my professional qualifications with the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) and the Gemmological Institute of America (GIA) in my spare time.
After hours of pitching ideas to one another we finally came to a solution. Before we knew it we had set up a website and were selling our first pieces. Now we have a wonderful team of antique jewellery lovers who help us travel far and wide to get the best vintage and antique pieces and bring them all together in on place for our customers.
What is unique about your products?
When it comes to antique and vintage jewellery, every piece is unique! It’s part of the magic. These historical pieces of jewellery were once made by hand, usually in very small quantities by skilled craftsmen. Each piece of jewellery has had many different owners and have been on many different journeys before they finally reach our customers and we love that these jewels each have a story to tell.
Your favourite piece of jewellery and why?
It’s hard to pin down a specific product as we are always on the look out for antique treasures and each and everyone of our pieces are unique, but we’re a big fan of big gemstone necklaces, like Georgian Garnet rivières, or Edwardian Moonstone necklaces. We also love a classic Diamond Art Deco ring too, for a magical sparkly moment!
