Last week, Northacre revealed its partnership with award-winning international design studio Oliver Burns Studio at The Broadway, Westminster, London.

Through the partnership the London-based design firm brings its commitment to “Thoughtful Luxury” and its world-class reputation for creating bespoke, elegant spaces to Northacre’s impressive mixed-use development in the heart of Westminster, London.

A home of sanctuary and cocooning comfort, the three-bedroom, 1,625 sq ft residence features an enviable collection of design pieces and numerous bespoke furnishings, largely by local British artisans and design luminaries including ‘couture upholsterer’ Aiveen Daly, Rupert Bevan and Tom Faulkner.

An exceptional collection of artworks, orchestrated by art gallery and consultancy Dellasposa, includes lithographs, prints and sculpture. Bailey, Emin, Picasso and Warhol each take their place here, alongside rising and established artists Maggi Hambling, David Shrigley, Guy Haddon-Grant, Daniel Arsham, Tom Hammick, Nicholas Hughes and Alexander James Hamilton. Their artworks provide emboldening colour, clean lines and gestural abstraction, contributing to the sophisticated atmosphere and contemporary response of the residence’s clean lines.

Soft, fluid forms take centre stage, with curved designs signaling comfort, particularly when aligned with natural colours and organic materials. The entrance way introduces the theme with a fine, white Travertine marble console that has been sculpted into gentle shapes, complemented by walls paneled in a botanical inspired suede work by Aiveen Daly’s in rich olive green.

The living area features a curvaceous sofa and statement chair in a flowing symmetry, paired with shark-nosed stone tables in Calacatta Ice marble. The bespoke fitted joinery uses Anegre Figured veneer and a beautifully textured looped and woven rug in tones of ivory, cinnamon and olive accents completes the space.

The use of American black walnut in a custom-made curvilinear dining table anchors the essence of convivial space while offering views to the bustling city beyond. The undulating forms of the handcrafted rippled glass chandelier by Kolektiv Ateliers offer spontaneity and contrast to the angular cityscape.

Sharon Lillywhite, founder of design firm Oliver Burns, comments: “We wanted to create a beautiful bespoke and luxurious home at The Broadway. A space that offers the ultimate sanctuary, with the views a gentle reminder of the city life beyond. To promote a sense of calm and wellbeing we have thoughtfully drawn in the exterior palette, taking inspiration from not only the unique elements of the building’s architecture but also the sublime views of the London skyline.

Introducing soft earthy tones, we have combined layers of natural and organic design elements with elegant and sumptuous materials, to achieve a sophisticated, quietly luxurious, and calming environment. Throughout the apartment the spaces have been meticulously curated, with contemporary yet timeless bespoke pieces that support a sense of wellness and innovation, underpinning the very ethos of The Broadway as a unique lifestyle destination.”

Amy Wardell, Head of Brand at Northacre, adds: “Oliver Burns Studio have created an exceptionally comfortable Residence. The use of natural forms and botanical colour palettes add to the stillness, sense of home and personal sanctuary, and are a fitting response to developments central London location in the midst of world-recognised landmarks.”

Oliver Burns Studio joins other highly recognised international designers at The Broadway including Natalia Miyar Atelier, and architecture and design practice NAINOA, each of whose eloquent designs and international influences come together to create a destination of rarity and exceptionalism.

The Residence by Oliver Burns Studio is for sale at £5.125m and furnishings by request.

About The Broadway

The Broadway, Westminster, SW1 was inspired by the Art Deco features of the neighbouring Grade I listed property, 55 Broadway, once London’s tallest building when it was built in 1929. Northacre and architectural partner Squire and Partners studied the beautifully configured architecture of 1920’s jewellery, and its contemporary interpretations, as a creative direction for the development. The shapes and structures found in luxury retail form the concept for The Broadway’s interiors, and the buildings have been named after three of the world’s most revered diamonds; The Sancy, The Paragon and The Cullinan.

The interiors have been carefully considered to take advantage of the dramatic quality of light created by the unique exterior and interior architectural design and provide a real sense of space alongside an elegant colour palette and contrasting textual effects.

The Broadway provides 16,000 square feet of health, fitness and spa amenities that afford residents the chance to relax and recharge in an exceptional setting. Facilities include an elegant 25m pool, gym and personal training studio, treatment rooms and a spacious, state-of-the-art games room, which can be booked by residents as additional entertainment space, alongside well-equipped meeting rooms, screening room and extensive parking.

In addition, tucked between the six striking towers of The Broadway is Orchard Place. Orchard Place at The Broadway, SW1 is a vibrant living and lifestyle destination designed by Northacre to build a sense of community and reinvigorate Westminster. This contemporary destination offers a blended lifestyle ecosystem that has been curated with stylish simplicity, defining a new era of living. Within Orchard Place, visitors and residents can immerse themselves in six pillars of the community: Live, Eat, Shop, Work, Move, and Play.

As the area evolves into a new thriving business and leisure neighbourhood for London, a unique mix of carefully curated food and lifestyle retailers will strive to enrich the everyday in a modern 20,025 sq. ft. retail hub. Envisage conscious retailers and pop-ups that align with the Orchard Place wellbeing framework.

Orchard Place also delivers 116,000 sq. ft workplaces, surrounded by public realm and parks in SW1’s vibrant new quarter. The bright and flexible workspaces have been designed by renowned British architectural practice Squire & Partners. Crafted to blend the energy of a modern office with the additional benefits of a contemporary destination, these are spaces for individuals and organisations to learn, grow and thrive.
