MESEME Studio launched CONCHA Embroidure collection; a limited edition of pendant lights

London-based design studio, MESEME Studio, recently launched a limited edition CONCHA Embroidure collection in collaboration with free-hand embroidery artist Nicole Chui at London Craft Week. The CONCHA Embroidure Collection is a series of 20 hand-crafted pendant lights, an extension of also newly launched CONCHA collection. This unique collaboration reimagines the existing CONCHA design, blending art and light to create a truly captivating illumination experience.

The CONCHA Embroidure Collection draws inspiration from the dynamic energy of a footballer’s movement on the field. Nicole Chui meticulously hand-stitches intricate patterns onto the CONCHA’s paper shades. These patterns represent the ‘beautiful mess’ of life’s journey, a counterpoint to the tranquil form of the CONCHA pendant.

Sourced from paper pioneers G.F. Smith, the collection boasts a unique paper type that blends paper and non-woven fabric. The visible fibres within the material create a striking visual and textural experience. When held to light, the paper takes on a warm sheen, reminiscent of dappled sunlight through a shell.

This limited-edition collection is a testament to the power of collaboration. Artist Nicole Chui shares the studio space with MESEME Studio, fostering a natural dialogue and creative exploration. This close partnership resulted in the CONCHA Embroidure Collection, a piece that celebrates the unexpected beauty found in the unexpected sources of inspiration.

Each CONCHA Embroidered pendant light is meticulously hand-crafted, embroidered, and assembled in our London-based studio. The collection is now available for commissions, allowing you to personalise your limited edition light with a choice of thread patterning colour palette, metal materials and finishes and typography.

Founder & Designer – Riya Panchal

A lighting and object designer known for her elegant, expressive, and long-lasting products, Riya Panchal draws inspiration from her family’s background in paper machine engineering and her experience at Heathfield & Co, Gong by Jo Plismy and Marc Wood Studio. Her design process is characterised by a meticulous attention to detail and a playful, imaginative approach.

Each of her intuitive and timeless creations is infused with her emotions and experiences, adding a profound emotional depth. This personal touch ensures that every collection resonates with distinction and meaning, establishing a deep connection with the clients. Beyond their functionality, Riya’s creations inspire and elevate interior spaces with innovative elements.

About Artist Nicole Chui

Nicole Chui is a messy, brash and disruptive artist specialising in freestyle hand embroidery. Her work is driven by the desire to preserve & create memories, disrupt perfection, and unpick traditions. She is currently exploring the integration of her identity in football culture. Her clients include Adidas, Google, Victoria Beckham, It’s Nice That, Migration Museum and the V&A Museum.
