Leading British furniture brand Isomi will unveil the award-winning Knit One chair in the UK this September as part of London Design Festival 2025, which runs from 12–21 September. Marking its UK launch, the Knit One chair will be showcased at Protein Studios, one of the anchor venues of Design London Shoreditch, situated within the vibrant Shoreditch Triangle, the capital’s emerging hub for contract furniture and contemporary design brands.

Continuing to redefine the contract furniture market through material-led innovation and sustainable design, the Knit One chair is a groundbreaking modular seating system that expands Isomi’s portfolio of environmentally driven furniture solutions.

Designed by Paul Crofts, the creative mind behind Isomi’s multi award-winning Tejo Sofa, the Knit One chair introduces a revolutionary approach to upholstery: replacing foam with air and traditional construction with advanced 3D knitting technology. Inspired by the zero-waste nature of 3D knitting, the chair’s knitted sleeve is crafted using recycled content and designed to be fully recyclable, pushing the boundaries of sustainable seating for commercial interiors.

The fabric comes from Camira’s SEAQUAL® Collection and is made from post-consumer marine plastic waste, up to 35 recycled plastic bottles per metre. The fabric can be replaced at any time to extend the chair life, and at the end of life, the chair can be fully recycled.

Where Crofts’ Tejo Sofa reimagined classic construction with cork, natural latex and wool, the Knit One chair goes further by eliminating non-environmental materials altogether. The result is a visually solid yet lightweight seating system that celebrates tactility, texture and transparency revealing its innovative structure through a dual-tone knitted shell.

The system includes a lounge chair, straight ottoman-style module, and angled module, all fully reversible to enable flexible configurations for modern spaces. A bolt-on solid wood side table complements the collection, merging functionality with refined design. Built on a lightweight metal frame designed for flat-pack shipping and local assembly, the Knit One chair tackles one of the contract industry’s biggest challenges, drastically reducing the carbon footprint of large-scale furniture transport.

“With the Knit One chair, we wanted to break away from wasteful, resource-heavy upholstery,” says Paul Crofts, Design Director at Isomi. “The frame simply bolts together on site, while the knit sleeve, woven with mono-filament structural fibres, drops into place — minimal waste, maximum impact.”

The Knit One chair’s compelling sustainability story and adaptable design make it equally suited for commercial environments and contemporary residential interiors. Partnering with Camira, known for its low-impact textiles, Isomi reinforces its commitment to responsible sourcing and circular design.

Visitors can experience the Knit One chair during the London Design Festival at Protein Studios part of Design London Shoreditch, a dynamic new design destination for contract furniture brands and contemporary designer makers.
