This Summer, Skopos launched their new recycled fabric collection, Taransay. A naturally-inspired, textured plain, Taransay is an inherently flame-retardant fabric, having no requirement for additional FR treatments, in a rugged natural palette, produced using recycled FR polyester yarns.
Taransay strengthens the eco offer from Skopos and embraces a simple, clean and sophisticated finish for contract interiors, with an elegance that fits beautifully alongside other textures or more flamboyant patterns within the Skopos portfolio. Composed from 50% FR polyester and 50% Recycled FR Polyester (from post-consumer waste) Taransay is GRS certified, helping to bring to the forefront an ethical and sustainable way forward for contract textiles and contract interior spaces.
The collection has been named after the beautiful yet remote island, Taransay. The island is situated in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, specifically about a mile off the west coast of Harris and is the largest uninhabited island in Britain.

The collection earns its name due to the rugged textures in the fabric and the tonal variations in the yarns, which give a raw and natural look to the fabric. The colour names suitably link back to this remote island theme, helping to build a picture of the collection and its inspiration.
Washable to 30°C, 140cm wide, offered in a palette of 20 soft linen look tones, the surface of Taransay has been influenced by the unique landscape of the island, with a soft natural appearance coming from variegated yarns and an undulating soft weave, perfect for flowing window drapes, soft accent cushions or finishing touch bed-throws in hospitality settings.
This soft weave adds to the thermal properties within a room and aids acoustic absorption within the interior space. Taransay works well with most curtain linings and can be blackout-lined for full light exclusion and a restful night’s sleep. It meets all the requirements for flame retardancy in contract environments including IMO certification, allowing for inclusion into interior schemes for Marine/ Cruise environments.

Skopos has recently been re-awarded Carbon Neutral status and is committed to providing a range of sustainable solutions for contract interiors. With over 50 years’ experience in textile innovation, Skopos have built up a wealth of design experience, providing flame retardant fabrics and key attributes that meet the needs of designers and end users alike.
