Bloomfield Ink designs and produces exquisite hand block printed wallpapers by traditional methods. A creative collaboration between colourist Prue MacLeod and textile designer Emerald Dangerfield, the brand which was established in 2021, now has five collections inspired by nature, botanical motifs and organic shapes – Daffodils (Little Daff and Big Daff), Dreamtime (Little Dream and Big Dream), Eat Your Greens, Sea of Dreams, and the latest Wild Thing.
Wild Thing
Influenced by the Bloomsbury Group, Seurat and Rothko to name but a few, these charming, original designs are brought to life in the Herefordshire countryside, where Emerald creates the designs and hand mixes the chalky, densely coloured pigments before the finished designs are sent to traditional block printers in Lincolnshire.
The colours are derived from long since discontinued Winsor & Newton powder paints which were originally owned by Emerald’s grandparents, and discovered in an old tin barn that now houses the Bloomfield Ink HQ and studio. The colour legacy and heritage of these precious pigments is the starting point for each design. “They are cherished for their strength and longevity” explains Emerald who has a background in textile design.
“Emerald is the talent and I am the editor refining the colour palette and designs” adds Prue who comes with a wealth of experience from the fashion and art world. Their collaborative vision was to create a brand with impeccable provenance embracing traditional values and skills. The process has been an intelligent and considered one, quietly rolling out two collections a year.
The first two collections, Daffodils and Dreamtime are printed in two scales (Big Daff, Little Daff and Big Dream, Little Dream) in a range of colourways to suit every taste, and the new collection Eat Your Greens comes in a delicious palette of sublime green tones in one scale.

SEA OF DREAMS/Poseidon
Sustainably and responsibly made exclusively in the UK, the hand made nature of the wallpapers makes them highly desirable to discerning interior designers and clients, seeking a design provenance that celebrates an artisan approach, with a fresh and contemporary colour palette.
Bloomfield Ink will have a London presence at Line Up in Worlds End Studios from September 9th where you can browse, order or sample requests.
