Erica Wakerly collaborates with furniture brand sixteen3

Wallpaper design studio, Erica Wakerly, has teamed up with contract furniture specialists, sixteen3, to debut a new workspace fabric collection during Clerkenwell Design Week.

The ‘Modern Flock’ fabric range was on display at sixteen3’s showroom in Clerkenwell, as part of an immersive pop-up that examined the evolving nature of workspaces.

The new fabric collection is an extension of the studio’s ‘Modern Flock’ wallpaper range and is an exploration into upbeat patterns for commercial use, combining functionality with a playful aesthetic. Consisting of two patterns ‘Scoop’ and ‘Buzz’, the designs combine neutral tones with energetic, brighter colours – a reflection of how workspaces are shifting away from traditional corporate aesthetics to embrace styles imbued with greater personality.

sixteen3 also marked the occasion with the launch of six new ranges including the recently unveiled ‘Betto’ table, and ‘Ada’, an elevated take on its classic ‘Pop’ stool. Four of its existing ranges have also been updated and the showroom showcased the new additions and upgrades as well as the partnership with Erica Wakerly. Working to a theme of ‘vintage ambience’ the transformed space drew inspiration from eclectic styles and embraced a sophisticated approach to quiet luxury.

The ‘Buzz’ and ‘Scoop’ fabrics were upholstered onto a range of sixteen3’s best-known furniture and accessories including the ‘Sedir’ sofa and ‘Artus’ panels, as well as the new ‘Ada’ stools and ‘Eden’ planters. Its ‘Calvert’ system also acted as a display wall for the fabrics. In addition, a selection of Erica Wakerly’s award-winning wallpapers were on show too.

It is a perfect partnership for the two UK-based brands who share a synergy for innovation, integrity andcraftsmanship, targeting clients that seek to surround themselves with durable, timeless designs.

Charles Bramwell, Product Designer at sixteen3, comments: “Our showroom is usually focused on spaces and layouts with a real workspace feel, whereas this collaboration steps away from that to create something more illustrative and punchy. It’s about drawing attention to the collaboration emphasising the furniture and fabric, and not necessarily representing a realistic work environment for a change.”

Erica Wakerly adds: “Today’s workspaces are ever more characterised by softness, comfort, playfulness, and vibrancy; something that inspires my work. It’s an honour to partner with sixteen3 whose pure, geometric shapes of their furniture pieces work as a perfect canvas for these patterns.”
