SLC Interior Design: Blending contemporary design with vintage elements
Share
Based on the Hampshire and West Sussex border, interior design studio SLC Interior Design is led by Sarah L Craddy and specialises in design that fuses fresh and contemporary style with a touch of vintage and mid-century charm. As a qualified and professional Interior Architect and Project Manager, in SLC Interior Design projects Sarah strives to merge the boundaries between architecture and interiors.
Over the years, Sarah has led and managed multiple projects, globally, within the interior design world, for nearly 20 years, from Grade II listed buildings to 40+ room hotels. She has worked for herself, London based design studios and a Marine Interior Architect in Turkey, culminating in a knowledge of commercial, residential and marine interiors.
As Sarah says: “Crafting spaces that feel like an extension of our clients is our forte. Our designs honour personality, resonate with the building’s character, and evoke the sophisticated vibes of quiet luxury.”
Here we share one of SLC Interior Design projects in London where tranquility in the city meets Japandi style.
One of the key elements of this project was a full re-design and replacements of existing lighting and switches in order to enhance peace and relaxation of the design concept. This included adding low profile lighting plastered in LED strip lights, with diffusers, for soft ambient but contemporary feel.
In the main living space the new fireplace creates a stunning focal point. The Cleo corner sofa sourced from SITS.eu divides the zoning while the dropped pendant was supplied by David Village Lighting. The beautiful round wax-finished concrete coffee table is designed by Antonio Facco at Design Italy.
In the dining area, the existing Verpen Series 430 dining chairs were re-upholstered with new Lelieve and Warwick fabrics for added texture and are complemented by the oval Fusion dining table from Bolia.
The whole living space has a warm neutral colour palette enhanced by use of layers of texture to create an inviting and relaxing environment. Natural finishes sit exceptionally well alongside architectural black elements, giving a subtle form and structure of defined spaces.
In the Master Bedroom the natural finishes sit alongside warm soft neutrals creating the perfect sanctuary. Layers of texture together with architectural elements, both soften the edges and add structural interest to the space.
The second bedroom was converted into a dressing room and occasional home office. The space is very functional, simple yet elegant. Warm tones and the smoked glass create an inviting space to dress in. SLC Interior Design designed the joinery in this room too, supplied by My Fitted Bedroom. The room features a delicate feather Dowsing & Reynolds pendant.
This project was a great success and the clients commented: “The harmony between all the wood, colours and textures is INSANE! It looks so cool and cohesive, I’m in love with it.”
