Natasha Burton Interiors: Designing a tranquil bedroom

Natasha Burton Interiors green bedroom project

Suffolk-based interior design studio Natasha Burton Interiors completed a master bedroom renovation to create a more up-to-date, light and tranquil space.

During this project the master bedroom went through several transformations – from smaller details such as moving the bed location over slightly to make way for centralising the wall lights, to a more dramatic change that had a bigger impact; the opening and expanding the entrance to the dressing room/wardrobe.

To open up the area, the door was fully removed and the entrance was widened, making the whole room feel bigger while allowing in more light into the space. With the original built-in wardrobes removed, the layout was reconfigured with new bespoke wardrobes as well as including a dressing table and a window seat which doubles as shoe storage.

In order to achieve this, the original radiator was removed from under the window and an underfloor heating was installed instead.

The colour scheme for both rooms is restful, light and airy. Clean lines and minimalist style with furniture, wardrobe handles, bespoke headboard all create a contemporary but timeless bedroom.

Textured wallpaper was used on the main wall and also repeated on the wardrobe doors. To create a seamless look, a soft loop wool carpet was added, textured fabric with piping for the headboard was repeated for the bench seat cushion, plus the curtains and Roman blinds were made of three different but complementary fabrics – this was to create a design feature and add more detail to the room, but also keeping the straight, minimal lines.

Attention to detail features throughout the room, notably the textured finials on the curtain pole, and the green floating shelves linking the sage green into the bedroom and creating a cohesive flow.

The final result of this master bedroom renovation means that it feels more spacious, open, lighter and tranquil.
