Huckleberry is the luxury kitchen and furniture brand quietly elevating heritage craftsmanship. With a commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and enduring design, the Somerset-based brand’s bespoke approach brings artistry and precision to pieces that sit at the heart of the home, beautifully tailored to combine practicality with timeless aesthetics.
By embracing slow, intentional design, Huckleberry steers clear of fleeting trends, instead creating kitchens and design-led items for the home that feel grounded, calm, and are built to last for generations.
Huckleberry launched in 2020 with handcrafted freestanding kitchens. Since then, the brand has expanded its range to include garden kitchens and garden furniture as well as heritage projects for buildings of note.
Thoughtfully crafted using natural materials, Huckleberry uses kiln-dried solid oak for its garden kitchens and furniture, which is made by skilled craftsmen in the south of England, using traditional joinery techniques that honour the integrity of natural materials. Using high-quality, sustainably sourced timbers and solid wood cabinetry, Huckleberry kitchens and furniture exude character and longevity.

Huckleberry was founded by husband-and-wife team Matt and Claire Podesta. Both from creative backgrounds, Matt honed his skills designing furniture for some of the industry’s best, including Habitat, Tom Dixon, Smallbone and Mark Wilkinson, before starting his own design studio in 2002.
Claire designed for luxury magazines and brands before moving into marketing, working for leading agencies across a range of sectors from publishing to interiors. The pair decided to combine their experience, design ethos, and appreciation for craftsmanship and in 2020, Huckleberry was born.
“We design with an expert eye – and a deep nod to our curiosity for art, architecture and British heritage design which shapes what we do.” Claire Podesta, co-founder & Marketing Director, Huckleberry
Matt’s particular passion for furniture design runs deep. Inspired by architecture that belongs naturally within its environment—whether majestic or modest—Matt has developed a ‘knack’ for the vernacular, earning awards and accolades along the way. He is a proud member of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers’ Bespoke Guildmark Committee, where he champions the future of design through mentoring young designers, judging awards, and sharing his deep knowledge of furniture design.
Huckleberry’s designs celebrate simplicity and function, seamless storage solutions, or natural finishes that allow the beauty of the materials to shine. Matt and Claire work with both private clients, on homes or heritage projects, or with garden designers and other design professionals. All kitchens and furniture can all be ordered either from an existing configuration or to a bespoke design, with each piece tailored to reflect its owner’s lifestyle and personality, resulting in spaces that are as individual as they are enduring.

“Our oak furniture is all traditionally made, with brass screws and butt hinges, hardwood dominos, mortice and tenon joints and stainless-steel feet and fixings. We make all our drawers in a traditional side slide way – no modern runners to go rusty. We believe a kitchen should feel as good as it looks—beautiful, functional, and timeless. Every detail, every material, every joint is considered, ensuring it’s a space that truly belongs in the home.” Matt Podesta, co-founder, Huckleberry
Sustainability sits at the heart of the brand. Inspired by the woodlands of Somerset and a respect for natural materials, Huckleberry proudly supports Moor Trees, who plant a tree for every piece of Huckleberry furniture made. Moor Trees is a charity dedicated to restoring native woodland on Dartmoor and South Devon, revitalising depleted habitats, increasing biodiversity, expanding existing wooded river valleys and creating woodland corridors for declining woodland wildlife.
Handcrafted in small British workshops, Huckleberry proudly supports British fine furniture manufacturing.
