Faded Glamour by the Sea: Pearl Lowe brings laid-back style to coastal living

Pearl Lowe faded glamour by the sea new book

Having fulfilled a lifetime dream of finding a house by the sea, Pearl Lowe now brings her laid-lack decorating style to coastal living with her new book  – Faded Glamour by the Sea.

Faded Glamour by the Sea is a book of inspirational interiors and beautiful homes. Pearl’s new home is a beautiful 1940s renovation project she started with her husband, musician Danny Goffey. It was originally built for an artist who sells shell sculptures which are still dotted throughout her garden, house and cabins.

After showing her own home,  Pearl takes the reader on a tour of the seaside homes her friends live in. A pair of antique dealers whose love of all things French inspired them to set up their own brocante in Kent; an artist with a love of beach huts; an author who swapped London life for a clifftop house with his own writer’s hut. Add to this the Malibu beachfront home of stylist Rachel Ashwell, the hippy-chic style of supermodel Helena Christensen’s waterside retreat and the ‘punk noir Victorian’ vibe of the hotel created by friends from rock band The Libertines.

The book has evocative photography and in curated in her trademark blend of grandly romantic and rock ’n’ roll style.

Pearl Lowe is a former singer renowned for her love of vintage fashion and interiors. She launched her signature range of cushions and lace curtains in 2001. She then moved into a house in Somerset, where she began to design and handmake bespoke childrenswear and dresses for private clients.

Her previous books include her autobiography, All That Glitters, which was received with acclaim when it was published in 2008. Pearl is based in Frome, Somerset but now spends the ‘best’ part of her year in East Sussex, at her new house by the sea.
