Multi-award-winning British lighting studio Curiousa is proud to announce the launch of their latest lighting collection, Elemental. This new series introduces two subtly neutral diffused glass pendants: Neptune and Venus. True to Curiousa’s ethos of embracing the imperfect and the handmade, the Elemental collection embodies themes of tranquillity, peace, and simplicity, bringing a sense of natural harmony to any space.
The Elemental series has been thoughtfully designed to capture the essence of nature, with a focus on unadornedbeauty and organic form. Each piece within the collection speaks to the idea of ‘perfection with imperfection,’celebrating the intrinsic beauty of free-blown glass. Neptune and Venus, the first releases in the Elemental range, are versatile pendants that can be displayed individually over dining tables or kitchen islands, or grouped together with the new editions of the Lozenge Squircle and Lozenge Wave pendants to create a striking sculptural arrangement, perfect for larger spaces.
Neptune
Venus
Designer and founder, Esther Patterson, comments: “With the ELEMENTAL collection, I wanted to distill lighting down to its most essential form—simple, serene, and deeply connected to nature. Neptune and Venus embrace a minimal approach, letting the natural beauty of the hand-blown glass shine through. For me it was about creating a calm, understated elegance that works effortlessly in any interior space, whether it’s a dining area or a kitchen.
By using clear, diffused glass and combining it with natural materials like hand-turned oak, we’ve crafted pieces that blend effortlessly with their surroundings while providing a sense of tranquility and balance.”
Each piece in the Elemental Collection is meticulously crafted using traditional glassblowing techniques. The process begins with the glassblower rotating a long pipe, blowing air into a hot, molten sphere of glass. This sphere is then skilfully elongated through a swinging motion, resulting in the distinct shapes that define the Neptune andVenus pendants.
After slowly cooling in a kiln, the glass is hand finished with precision drilling and grinding, sand-blasting and polishing, creating an illuminated artwork that retains the true essence of its molten origins.
The Neptune pendant, featuring hand-turned oak, and the Venus pendant, with its elegant wave design, are both available in clear, diffused glass, making them versatile enough to complement any interior colour scheme or style. The marriage of natural materials—wood and glass—reflects Curiousa’s commitment to nurturing a connection to theenvironment through design.
