Interior designer and stylist Aman Garcha was tasked to create a calm and cosy space for a young professional who purchased her first home – a one-bedroom new build apartment in Maida Vale, London. The client is a lover of neutral and wanted to create a soft, feminine space. She wanted the living space to be multi-functional – a space where she could relax and watch TV, host friends and family for dinner, and an area where she could work from home.
Aman commented: “As it wasn’t an overly large room, we kept the freshly painted walls white. We opted for one neutral three-seater sofa, and a contemporary glass nest of tables from Kave Home to keep the space feeling ‘open’. The sofa and tables sat on a large rug which zoned the living space off nicely.
We sourced a beautiful round fluted dining table from Le Di Vita to tie in with the neutral vibe and paired it with white boucle dining chairs from Cult Furniture. For me, the dining table was the show-stopper! The client went out and purchased the desk herself.
We achieved this soft, calm look by mixing textures and layering – from the stunning floor-to-ceiling drapes to the fabric sofa, the large soft rug, and boucle chairs. Layering textures and tones really helped to add interest and stop the space from feeling flat. We added greenery around the room, and layered some large plants in one corner to add some life to the space.”
