When a busy family moved into their house in Bromley, they had an intention of making it their own. But as work and life got in the way and, four years later, they had bought some furniture but didn’t have the time or inclination to do any more. They called upon the design services of Fawn Interiors who were tasked to add colour and personality into the rooms so the clients could feel like finally they made their own stamp on the house.
After the team at Fawn Interiors assessed the rooms, and how the clients were using them, they determined that there were a lot of rooms that overlapped, and one room, in particular, wasn’t being used at all. Tamsin, the head designer, says: “We made this room into an evening cocktails room – a place for drinks before and/or after dinner – with useful built-in storage at one end. Because it will be used primarily in the evenings, we were able to use darker, more luxurious colours and textures.”
The overall colour palette for the project consists of blues and greens with warm neutrals, and touches of turmeric and burnt orange. In the living room, which is mainly used as a comfy family cinema room, they added a navy blue feature wall to minimise reflections on the TV, and a bespoke window seat with storage was built into the unused bay. In the previously-wooden kitchen and dining area, the cupboards were painted to modernise the space and with the addition of a designer table and chairs, alongside the Tom Dixon stunning lighting, both areas burst personality and elegance.
Started by Robert and Tamsin Allen in 2014, Fawn pride itself on creating modern, elegant and practical interiors with a touch of natural luxe. They deliver design projects from concept to completion and specialise in interior design and architecture, bespoke joinery and high-end refurbishment.
