The Store: A place to inspire in Berlin
It was back to school yesterday after our half term break in Berlin. I love visiting new places while abroad. It’s so inspiring to see new ideas and products I’ve never seen before. It really gets my brain going. I came across few smaller, independent stores over there which I think deliver much more in retail. Retail, in general, is such a cut throat industry with so much fierce competition and copycats. However, I believe that there is a gap in the market for retailing that goes well beyond retail. It’s more about a cultural experience, or a way of being. And that’s exactly what The Store is doing.
The Store opened its doors to the public in February 2015, offering a cultural hub combining retail, art installations, co-working place and The Store Kitchen. It’s a place to get inspired by for sure. They bring local and international creative enterprises that cover art, fashion, design, literature, music and food under one roof.
“We wanted to create a place where people could spend all day. A light, fresh and fun space where guests can shop, work, eat, drink and hang out. Like an open, shop-able private home for everyone to spend time and where everything is for sale from the candle burning, record playing to the sofa you sit on. ” says Alex Eagle, the creative director.
Definitely, definitely worth the visit on your next trip to Berlin. Just go in for the experience!!
