wecasa wellness predictions 2023

Wecasa is a platform and an App that works with a fleet of over 1000 skilled professionals assisting them to be successful independent businesses.  As the end of the year approaches, here they are giving their wellness predictions for 2023.

The UK mobile wellness industry has increased in popularity since the pandemic. In 2020, 65% of professionals working in the beauty segment were independent specialists (up from 57% in 2019). In the past few years the world has changed due to the pandemic and beauty salons were one of the hardest industries hit with a 2021 report from the National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) saying salon capacity fell to 70% of its pre-pandemic level due to social distancing and enforced closures.

Full-time employment was also down 21% on 2019’s figures. As a result, in 2020, 65% of professionals working in the beauty segment were independent specialists, which has seen the rise of the mobile wellness industry with more customers booking treatments taking place in the comfort of their own homes. The UK, as a country, is coming back to its former self following the pandemic and it is clear that its people love treating themselves to at-home beauty, massages, wellness or cleaning services to help with their busy lives.

In the past year, Wecasa has seen a steady and constant 2-figure growth month on month when it comes to bookings of remote mobile home services. Cleaning is a clear front runner with 35% of bookings coming from this area, whilst haircuts accounts for 25%, Massages for 25% and beauty for 15%. Women continue to be the most wellness savvy individuals as 77% of bookings come from them and only 22.5% of those who book appointments are male.

Wellness predictions

The company is always looking to the next trend as well as customer wants and needs, therefore Pierre André, Wecasa founder, shares Wecasa’s 2023 predictions for the UK wellness industry:

Hybrid approach to wellness: There is often a sense that it has to be the traditional salon vs mobile home-based services. However, life has changed following the pandemic and customer now spend their time between the office and working from home.

There is very much a place for both salon and at-home services to serve their purpose for example if you work in an office a salon experience is more convenient at lunch time whereas if you work from home a mobile service is incredibly flexible and easy. It all comes down to what suits your lifestyle and schedule.

Celebrity trends: The beauty and wellness industry has always been influenced by what celebrities do and the mobile services industry needs to make sure we offer the latest trends too. Trends such as Hailey Bieber’s donut nails are something that customers want and so we, the mobile wellness services industry, need to ensure we offer this and cater to demand.

Increase in independent specialists: In 2020, 65% of professionals working in the beauty segment were independent specialists, up from 57% in 2019. Independent beauty professionals are becoming highly profitable now too and with the help of technology and companies like Wecasa they are able to work on their own terms and further their small businesses – we must support them and make this possible for them.

Even more flexible in time and demographic serviced: The beauty service is now expected to be flexible in terms of timings. Most clients work full time and get convenient appointments after work hours or during the weekends. Additionally, services are now also easily accessible to those who are older, less mobile and professionals have to provide services at home. Therefore, it’s obvious that the demand has also increased professionals offering mobile services.

Wecasa has a fleet of over 1000 professional beauticians, cleaners and wellness experts and the company pride itself on working closely with local service professionals, enabling them to take their own business to the next level by assisting them in developing their skills, growing their business and ensuring services are localised so they don’t travel more than 5km to customer appointments.
