Introducing Nörre Nordic restorative skincare

Founding Nörre Nordic was a sum of many factors, but it all began with my personal struggle with severe acne. As a young adult, I tried using products available on the market, but to no avail. Instead, they only worsened my skin condition. Frustrated and desperate, I decided to research the ingredients involved in these products, hoping to find a solution.

To my dismay, I discovered that many of these products contained harmful substances that triggered my breakouts. As someone who has always been fond of nature, I began to wonder if there was a more natural solution to my problem. I delved deeper into my research and learnt that people have been using plants for medicinal purposes for centuries.

Inspired by my research, I began to experiment with different natural plant oils and found that they tremendously improved my skin’s condition. From that day on, I made using natural plant oils a part of my daily skincare routine.

Fast forward to ten years later I completed my master’s degree in business and started working in big corporations’ sustainability departments. However, my high hopes and belief that every business with a sustainability department was genuinely committed to sustainable practices were quickly disabused.

It became clear that many companies merely paid lip service to sustainability as a trend or marketing tactic rather than incorporating it into their core values. I realised that building a truly sustainable business requires a fundamental shift away from exploitative practices, instead of just a surface-level commitment to sustainability.

Starting my own natural skincare brand was the logical next step for me. I wanted to create something that truly aligned with my values and beliefs. It was important for me that the products were fully natural, without any harmful ingredients so they would suit even the most problematic skin. Additionally, building a company that preserves nature and uses only sustainable practices from the very beginning was of utmost importance to me. I wanted to create a brand that didn’t just help its customers but also contributed positively to the planet.

The wild Arctic nature was a major influence on my decision to create a natural skincare brand. I was fortunate enough to live in Finland, a country that boasts more than 75% forest coverage and thousands of lakes. Surrounded by such breathtaking nature, I became fascinated with the powerful herbs and plants that grew wild in the Arctic landscape.

I began to experiment with these wildcrafted herbs in my own skincare formulations and found that they had remarkable healing properties for the skin. For years, I had struggled with my skin, and making my own natural skincare products had been the solution. I knew that I could make a positive difference in the lives of others by offering high-quality natural skincare products that actually work.

Founding Nörre Nordic was a culmination of my personal experiences, values, and passions. By prioritising natural ingredients, sustainability, and the power of wildcrafted Arctic herbs, I am proud to offer a skincare brand that truly reflects who I am and what I believe in. Today, I am thrilled to see my customers enjoy healthy and glowing skin without compromising the environment.

What is unique about your products?

At Nörre Nordic, we take pride in our unique approach to skincare that centres around the natural power of Arctic herbs, which are known for their potency and resilience in harsh climates. These herbs are grown in the pristine environment of the North, where the soil is untouched and the air is pure, resulting in plants that are more potent and effective in delivering benefits to the skin.

We infuse these herbs in oil for six weeks, allowing the plants’ active compounds to fully permeate the oil. This slow infusion process results in a concentrated, nutrient-rich herbal oil serum that delivers optimal results for the skin. To maximise the potency of our products, we blend the herbal infusion with the most powerful CO2-extracted Arctic berry seed oils from Finnish Lapland.

This advanced extraction method captures the full range of beneficial compounds found in these rare and unique ingredients, resulting in a skincare experience that is truly one-of-a-kind.

We also prefer to do everything ourselves; from start to finish Nörre Nordic products are made in our in-house laboratory by hand in small batches. For an uncompromising quality, not a single production step is outsourced to third parties during the development and production process. By having our own herbal garden and wildcrafting herbs by ourselves, we are able to infuse them fresh into our oils to achieve the most potent and effective products to offer.

Furthermore, sustainability is one of our core values that thrives us in everything we do. We exist not only to have a positive impact on the skin but also to have a positive impact on the world. What are some of the ingredients and why did you choose them to use in your products?

I love working with wildcrafted and self-grown herbs. I believe in the power of natural ingredients and the effectiveness of specific herbal blends. That’s why each of our products includes a carefully selected blend of herbs that addresses the unique needs of each product. For example, our REVIVE Brightening Antioxidant Face Oil Serum features a blend of wild lady’s mantle, raspberry leaf, self-grown calendula, and cornflower to help brighten and even out skin tone.

Our REBALANCE Clearing & Purifying Face Oil Serum includes wild meadowsweet, fireweed, birch leaf, and nettle to help regulate oil production and keep skin balanced and clear of breakouts. Our RECALM Soothing & Repairing Face Oil Serum features self-heal, chamomile, cornflower, and blackcurrant leaf to soothe, calm and strengthen dry, irritated and sensitive skin. These herbal blends work synergistically with our other natural ingredients to provide powerful, effective skincare that is gentle on the skin.

I also love our Finnish CO2-extracted Arctic berry seed oils, such as lingonberry seed oil, which can be found in RECALM Soothing & Repairing Face Oil Serum. Lingonberry seed oil is abundant in essential fatty acids such as α-linolenic and linoleic acids, which are essential for healthy and radiant-looking skin.

On top of that, lingonberry seed oil is also a great source of γ-tocotrienol, a form of vitamin E that is known for its powerful antioxidant properties, therefore it helps to protect the skin from environmental stressors. Overall, these CO2 extracted Arctic berry seed oils are highly effective and unique ingredients that are not commonly found in skincare products.

In short about our ingredients policy: at Nörre Nordic, we use only 100% natural & vegan ingredients that are free from synthetic preservatives, additives, fragrances, and artificial colors. We also use certified and organic ingredients whenever possible. Sustainability is also a core value of our brand, which is why we strive to use only local or European ingredients.

Over 60% of our ingredients are sourced locally from Finland, including self-harvested wild herbs and plants from our organic herbal garden. Furthermore, 96% of our ingredients are sourced from Europe, with only one ingredient, blue tansy from Morocco, coming from outside Europe.

Your favourite product and why?

I like to switch up my oil serums depending on my skin’s needs. When I’m doing gua sha or a face massage, or after exfoliating when my skin needs extra care, I reach for the RECALM Face Oil Serum. If I’m experiencing hormonal breakouts and my skin is feeling out of balance, I turn to the REBALANCE Face Oil Serum. But for my everyday routine, I love the REVIVE Face Oil Serum. It gives my skin a beautiful glow during the day, nevertheless I’m wearing makeup or not.
