another country showroom on Dorset as featured by estila

Another Country opens their new West Country showroom in the Dorset countryside, bringing their contemporary wood furniture and accessories to the birthplace of the brand. With a strong emphasis on sustainability, Another Country designs and makes furniture using the highest quality natural materials, traditional techniques, and with design longevity in mind. Their archetypal design forms are inspired by British Country vernacular, Shaker, as well as traditional Scandinavian and Japanese woodwork.

Another Country’s collection offers customers based in the West Country the chance to see and experience their carefully crafted products first-hand in a beautiful, converted barn split into dining, living and sleeping environments. Located at Chaldicott Barns in Semley, the new showroom displays some of their best-selling pieces, alongside new additions to the collection.

“We are really excited to have a showroom in Dorset, where our brand originated from.” said Paul de Zwart, founder of Another Country.

“Over the last few years the West Country has become home to world-class art and hospitality destinations, witnessed the growth of a thriving food and maker scene, and seen many new people call this area home, especially within the area bordered by Bath, Salisbury and Shaftesbury. It just makes sense to go west rather than expecting people to always come to London or shop online.”

On display you will find pieces from the Hardy collection, inspired by Another Country’s Dorset heritage, and designed by award-winning British designer David Irwin, the popular Series One collection, with its paired-back aesthetic and honest forms, and other designs showcasing the breadth of the range. Amongst them is the Purbeck Coffee Table, a limited edition table made of three geometric shapes using locally sourced materials including Purbeck Green Marble and Pippy oak.

The Wick Bed, the latest addition to the bedroom range, is Another Country’s first fully upholstered bed, made with natural materials and distinctive solid oak legs. Like all beds, the Wick Bed can be supplied with a handcrafted organic, natural mattress from Devon-based Naturalmat. Colourful textiles and throws from Mourne Textiles complete the bedroom offering.

Alongside Another Country’s furniture range is their own collection of tableware and a curated collection of other accessories, including cutlery and kitchen essentials by British designer David Mellor, and hand-turned bowls by Bird & Branch. The Cob Decanter, a hand-blown decanter designed by Michael Ruh exclusively for Another Country is also stocked.

Lighting and rugs also feature, making the showroom an all-in destination. Another Country’s own popular range of House Lamps celebrates the beauty of home-grown natural materials, whilst two long-standing retail partners, B-Corp certified natural rug company Armadillo & Co, and Workstead, the New York-based design studio with their range of sophisticated lighting, are also fully represented.

Completing the space, the showroom features a selection of paintings by the London-based artist David Murphy.

Another Country Dorset showroom is open from 10am – 4pm Wednesday to Friday, and 10am – 2pm on Saturday.
