Life In Style: week 4.
Happy bank holiday weekend!! As I’m still very new to this, I’ve decided to share the behind the scenes of my week so you can see what goes into creating High In Style magazine. Basically my life in Style.
My week started off with a very interesting meeting which hopefully will turn into a working partnership. If you follow High In Style on Instagram, you know that I’ve been looking for someone to help me with the magazine production. I spend tons of time researching, organising photoshoots and interviews, collaborating and brainstorming with our contributors and writers. On top of that I receive on average around 60 press releases, project and product submissions a day which is becoming impossible to read through them all.
I don’t drink coffee or alcohol but I’m totally tea obsessed. So when I passed by the newly opened T2 tea shop, I had to go in and check it out. Obviously I didn’t leave empty handed but the search for my perfect tea experience, set by one well known hotel in Germany where we stayed years ago, still continues. I say no more.
On Wednesday I had a telephone interview with Will Taylor from Bright Bazaar. He is the biggest UK interiors blogger and author and I was so chuffed when he replied to my email request regarding his latest book – Dream Decor. This is a massive deal for me and I can’t quite believe that it happened. I used to comment on Will’s blog and still follow his work when I get the opportunity to sit down and catch up on blog reading. He has such a great eye for design and clearly understands what interior design is about. Plus he loves and embraces colour and style, which speaks to me on so many levels. I can’t wait to start writing the article next week.
My low point of the week was when I got 2 rejections for other interviews which I was planning to do for our July and August issues. I won’t say who it was but I was quite gutted about it. Since I get more nos than yeses I got little bit better at handling the disappointment but still it’s something I have to work on and get used to even more. What I’ve also learnt is that with one major “no” there is a “yes” from someone even bigger just around the corner. And that happened a day after my interview with Will. I managed to arrange a meeting at Jo Malone’s new boutique in London called Jo Loves. I can’t wait to interview and experience first hand Jo’s new products and learn more about her journey!
Stay tuned! Kx
