New Merino throw by Mairi Helena
A Scottish based independent design brand Mairi Helena launches a new Merino wool throw inspired by a glorious June trip Mairi took to the Summer Isles on the West Coast of Scotland. From crimson skies to the unspoilt shorelines, this pattern captures the wild beauty of our charismatic archipelago.
Merino sheep herald originally from Spain, originally the breed is thought to have been created around the 12 century when farmers introduced breeds from the British Isles and North Africa to their local stocks, which is generally thought of as when the breed would have been created. Merino wool offers numerous advantages in interiors. Firstly, it provides good insulation, so it keep warmth in. It also has anti-static properties and it doesn’t itch, smell or crease much. Because of this it is ideal for styling beds and sofas as it keeps its shape.
Merino wool is considered to be a sustainable material and looks luxurious!
The Summer Isle Merino throw is woven in one small batch of 25 throws in Lancashire, using Yorkshire yarns and finished in the Scottish Borders, this throw is a limited edition and is part of “Summer Isle” design from the Explorer collection.
