Known for the mix of minimalism and functionality, Scandinavian style remains popular among interior designers and the world over.
Although many brands are inspired by the aesthetic, just a few of them offer original products that tie in all elements of Scandinavian design. The enduring popularity of original pieces of Scandinavian and mid-century design throughout the decades is testament to their sleek beauty, and dedication to quality materials – becoming an interior design staple that shows no sign of slowing.
Located in Clapton, East London, House of Twenty is a studio and showroom that restores original 20th Century Danish design furniture. The products are sourced from Scandinavia and are refinished in-house, by a team of skilled female restorers and upholsterers. The company’s caring restoration ensures the items retain their original design features and high level of quality.
Natalie Harding, the founder, is the 4th generation of a family of woodworkers and furniture makers. Her passion for Scandinavian design inspired her to create House of Twenty, and build a production process to mix sustainability and craftsmanship.
This passion, dedication and experience are elements that compose House of Twenty’s concept. “Our products come from the mid-20th century and are full of stories, we give them a fresh lease of life to become focal points in the creation of new ones”.
House of Twenty has an online shop offering UK, European and International shipping, but Interior Designers and enthusiasts can also visit the studio to feel and experience the products – and see the process behind restoring them. The company also runs a commercial department, styling for projects within the hospitality sector and can assist from initial design proposal to installation.
