Linda Magistris: Good grief trust
I met Linda Magistris through networking and when I heard her story I just had to get involved. She recently set up The Good Grief Trust, which she launched on BBC Breakfast six months ago. Her story is that after losing her partner Graham to a rare cancer in September 2014, she was having a great deal of difficulty finding support she needed. She had little help or information from the GP, hospital or hospice and subsequently discovered that there is a need for radical improvement in bereavement support in the UK.
The idea, she had from this experience, is to develop the UK’s 1st online support network to bring all charities and organisations under the one umbrella, and offer a new National Bereavement Pack which will be available via every frontline organisation.
She’s organising a fundraising event (The Spring Fair & Fashion Show) this Saturday, 11 March, 2017. It’s a fashion and shopping event which will be held at the, Hotel du Vin & Bistro in Wimbledon Common, London. The Spring Fair & Fashion Show will be open to hotel guests and the public too, so you can take this opportunity to have a great afternoon full of fun and inspiration, especially if you love fashion, beauty and interiors, while supporting the charity and its future plans too. Here are the details.
I think this is such a great idea and I feel it is something we all should be supporting, especially after learning that there isn’t an one-stop informational website for bereavement that can offer support needed in such traumatic times. Even though I haven’t experienced such trauma myself, I understand how lost women can feel after losing someone very close. As you know, Estila magazine is all about inspiring women who struggle with finding their purpose and the next step in their life. Therefore, I’m pleased to say that we are donating print copies of our magazine to those women who need that kind of inspiration. If you can’t make it to the event, you can follow Linda’s journey with the Good Grief Trust on Facebook and sign up for updates here.
